UCPCOG Wins Innovation Award from National Association of Development Organizations

The Upper Coastal Plain Council of Governments (UCPCOG) recently received a 2017 Innovation Award from the National Association of Development Organizations (NADO). These awards recognize regional development organizations for improving the economic and community competitiveness of regions and local communities. The UCPCOG was recognized for their development of the regional brownfields coalition that has helped administer over $800,000 in EPA Brownfields grants to assess environmentally impaired properties in Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Wilson and Northampton counties. Through these efforts the UCPCOG has been able to leverage over $56-million in documented redevelopment support for their project. Mid-Atlantic is proud to have played a part in this success, assisting the UCPCOG with this project since they were first funded in 2011.
