Mid-Atlantic Awarded Two More Brownfields Contracts

Mid-Atlantic was selected by the Town of Elkin to provide environmental and brownfield consulting services for the next five years following a qualifications based selection process. Initially Mid-Atlantic staff will help prepare grant applications for EPA Brownfields Assessment grants. If awarded, Mid-Atlantic staff will conduct Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments at high priority properties within the town. Following the assessments, Mid-Atlantic will provide assistance with cleanup and redevelopment planning and future grant writing opportunities. Mid-Atlantic will also assist with community outreach efforts designed to keep the public informed and involved in building a sustainable Brownfields Program.

The City of Durham was recently awarded a three-year, $400,000 EPA Brownfields Assessment grant ($200,000 for hazardous substances and $200,000 for petroleum). Mid-Atlantic assisted the City staff in the fall of 2013 in preparing the application to EPA. Mid-Atlantic will assist leadership with community outreach, site selection, Phase I ESAs, Phase II ESAs, clean up planning and redevelopment planning services.
